Skeleton of Society

She walks down Wilshire Blvd with her raven hair and beautiful pale skin
Her dress attire is professional and her finger and toe nails neatly manicured
She carries a black bag with a thoughtful look; a look of complete seriousness
One which would cause anyone to wonder what occupies her mind
People from the outside think that she is a pretty girl, well manicured, well mannered
They make assumptions as to how she must be a snob; she must think she is so beautiful
They don’t know that despite the pretty hair and the professional clothing
The nails, shoes and other accessories, her exterior cover is only that which covers the ugly
That which has been unspoken of and ignored; completely unacknowledged
She is amused by the fact that they don’t notice the china is cracked
They don’t know that despite how hard she tries to turn the ugly into pretty
The ugly refuses to let go, it eats at her to where now instead of a citizen of society
Skeleton of society would be a more accurate description
They have no idea she avoids all the mirrors as she can’t stand the ugly of her own face
She cringes by the sound of what she is sure people think is a hideous voice
She personally finds her own being completely unnecessary and a waste of time
The people snicker at the comment but they don’t understand that she only speaks of her un-chosen arena which she seeks to escape
But what is she to do?
She smiles, she waves and she continues life as a skeleton of society.
